Well, in my humble opinion, the track day and spring car show for the Texas area Tens and Twenties Car Club was a roaring success. We had enough guys show up to cover the cost of the track and we all got in as much track time as we wanted. The weather even cooperated, this was the first April weekend, for the last few years at least, that it didn't rain. I did manage to keep my bald melon covered but got a wicked sunburn on my legs. My 1200, Gil, ran flawlessly and was a ton of fun despite the lack of support offered by the seats and the way the seatbelt rubbed my neck. We had a few 510s show up and run too. Alex Moreno (sorry if I missed on spelling) had the most spectacular spin of the day. This wasn't too tough to decide since there were only two true spins, and his was the only one to make it a full 360. I tried to take some pictures of Gil on the track while John was driving it, but gave up when I decided I suck at photograpy. John, tensandtwenties, may have gotten some good shots, we'll see what he has and post them later. All in all, it was a good day and I'm looking forward to doing it again.
Tim
p.s. My Subaru was a hoot to flog around too.
p.p.s. Some Volkswagen guys were there too and they seemed to be having fun. John Ullom (once again, sorry if I misspelled it) had the other spin in his Rabbit Pickup. His was the first.
p.p.p.s Since it was all for fun, we didn't take any times for the laps so don't ask who was the fastest of the day.

As Tim said, it was quite a success. Everyone seemed to have a blast beating on their cars. In all there were 3 510's (a 2dr, a 4dr, and a wagon), a 1200 Coupe, Tim's Subaru 2.5GT, a VW Rabbit pickup, MK1 Scirocco, MK2 Jetta, and my MK2 Golf GTI. Also there was one more spin he forgot! I only remember because I was a passenger for it! On the back section that no one could see well, the MK1 Scirocco spun such a violent 360 that he got both passenger wheels off the ground! We plan to do it again soon (the race, not the spin) in mid October. So keep your eyes open if you're interested in doing what you missed out on.

By the way, I'm the dead sexy guy in the black shorts and white shirt standing next to Gil in those photos.

oh, you mean the guy with the fuel tank right? for the sex machine? haha

just takin the piss....

am thinking about organising a track day down here in adelaide. We got malala, it's a pretty wicked track, and i know the owner there, so he might let us hire it out for the day, instead of hourly or whatever.

For anyone here who is in adelaide, i will call on friday, and see how things go.

Yeah, the image gallery!

What's your screen res? I thought they were decent size. Especially on dimlight's 800x600 laptop! (He gets mad when the webpage is wider than the screen )

If you have Internet Explorer 6, it will shrink the photos to show them all together on one page. To show them full-size, hold the mouse over the photo area for a couple of seconds, then click the expand button that appears.

Yeah, Windows XP does that too. All of the images are about 600x400, so they shouldn't be small unless it's the aformentioned problem or your running 1280x1024 resolution or higher.
