Hey guys just a question my fan belt is slipping on the CA its brand new of course and as tight as it should be but slipping.
Could the alternator be recieving to much charge and be working to hard and if so would this cause the slipping.
My hand controller has a volt reading on the battery and it does seem a bit high 14 volts sometimes a bit higher is this causing the belt to slip or what.
Any help would be great.
Cheers Luke

Sounds strange..

Does the alternator and waterpump turn freely with the belt off?

My replacement CA18 waterpump needed the pulley holes welded up and redrilled on centre. Maybe you got a badly drilled waterpump flange like me?

I wouldn't think it's the alternator current draw, unless it's much worse with the headlights on.

There are 2 lengths of belt for the CA18 too.. one with A/C and one without A/C. Make sure that you have the right one. If you are running out of adjustment, this could be another potential problem.

I had the same problem on my DE (dont know if they are different) when i replaced mine but only under heavy load (launching- took me ages to figure out cause the engine noise made it hard to hear but was deffinatly there, i figured it out by playing with my throttle body under neath the hood), i tightened it to the extreme and was still happening however not as much, i replaced it with the same part and never slipped again.

Or seeing that you've just assembled your engine/Car would any oil or gunk on the pulleys from handling the parts be causing this??????

There is a glue you can buy I think from REPCO but I've heard belt deteriorate very quickly with this glue, not sure why though.

it will be a multi rib belt, just keep tightening it until it stops squealing, it will bed in over a few weeks then retension. DO NOT put belt grip on. if the pulleys feel fine, make sure the alternator doen't bind when tightened, try this with the belt off.
