Steady: more minutia ahead ...

The Mk3 is the boxy model the poster mentioned, but it was actually designated an HL510 not a 510 for the U.S. market.

Also, for the JDM Mk3, the Auster was sold alongside the Violet, and these body styles were identical except for some misc. trim pieces.

Works Rally Violets

TnPshow: Right on! The 710 Violet was a successful rally car for NISSAN.

The only way it would be worth it would be if you were going to really build the motor up and run more power than a SR20DET could do on high boost. Besides, the car's weight balance will be shot; it's a heavy load for a car that was not designed to carry such a large engine up front.
But, hey, it looks cool! I have seen an L-series put into a S13 and I have to admit that I maybe tempted to do a conversion like that.

The works 710 in that link to the works rally violet Matt put in is a gem. Its one of the Southern Cross rally cars.
Something even more interesting to people in Melbourne is the Stanza A10 next to the violet.
This is the Shekar Mehta car and entered by none other than Datsun GI DOBIE.

Gordon Dobie has just retired and shut up shop. A very interesting part of Australian and Melbourne motorsport history that car, and now we have to go to Japan to see it

It is only a shell i'm getting. i have an old laurel c230.. can i use the rear end off that on the '160j'?

So what about the idea of a Turbo L20b instead of the l24-28?
