Some people have claimed near 190hp, flywheel horsepower that is. But it will cost serious dollars and wont be a very streetable engine. Race only!!

I spent reasonable $$$ a few years back on one, cam, pistons, head, valves, zorst, twin 40mm side drafts, regraphed dizzy .... was getting around 90hp at the rear wheels ... dont know what this would equate to at the flywheel ???????

Its intended for race only, for a compact speedcar to be exact. Im thinking forged pistons, billet roller rockers, carbon pushrods, serious porting, billet crank, cams, rods, titanium valves dry sump, hillborn mechanical injection and some stainless wafer thin extractors 4-1.

So any one game to make a guess at estimated power???

Cheers

Unless you actually know what you are doing, the best bet is to

A. Have a good look at what the opposition is running in their Datsun A series engines. Keep your eyes & ears open & you will learn much.

B. Develop the engine. Learn as you go & use the mistakes of others as a guide. For example, if others are destroying cast pistons left & right, then go for forgings, but if the winning engines live long with castings, then the heavier forgings will only cost money that could be better spent elsewhere & their extra weight will only slow you down.
Talk to the people who actually build the engines used in your competititors cars. They will be in a position to provide more authaurative help than you are likeley to get from shade tree mechanics with pet theories. [like me.] Talk to as many diferent engine builders as you can find as each will have his own story to tell

C. Don't try to outdo the winning engines first time round by using more cam & more carb than everyone else. The fastest engines have been built by people that learned the hard,... & expensive way. These engines were likely "developed" over several seasons. Don't think you will knock them off on your first try.

D. Be patient.

Thanks Dodgeman..

I am a mechanic so i do rebuild motors and have done in the past but maily doing up bike motors but i have also done some moderate work on a12 and a15 but never a a14. I am aware of the dovelopment situation and it is going to be a long road but hopefully successful one. I would like to get maybe 170 or so hp if im lucky.

If any of you guys think im dreaming let me know.

Cheers

speak to dattoman 1000 and also look at his web site it will tell you everthing you need to know.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~dattoman_1000/index.htm

with what your talking about doing you should get over 200 at the flywheel
