yesterday it rained in teh shire and got a lil tail happy a fair few times just muckign around neway after that seemed to have clutch slippage ay like started out not disengaging right seemed iffy. then today its like hell smooth but slips when i plant it.
possible problems
clutch plate worn
pressure palte and clutch plate??
there is oil under the gearbox maybe leakign rear main seal on the crank leaking oil onto the clutch?
incorrect clutch adjustment (look at pic clutch is 1inch further bak than the brake and i only got a 2inch throw and if i release the pedal like 5mm SERO i can like start moving the car)

Adjust the clutch pedal stop under the dash. And look at how far the clutch fork in the gearbox moves in regards to the clutch pedal.

Look at how it was installed by the dude that did the clutch conversion. Maybe they got it completely wrong in regards to clutch master and clutch slave cylinder sizes. By the sounds of how it's working now, You might need a MUCH smaller clutch master. That would explain why the previous owner has adjusted the clutch pedal stop to look like that.

As an aside..there are only 2 popular sizes for clutch slave cylinders. But several different master cylinder sizes.

Good Luck.

I dont no much about sr20s i 1200s but check if the pedal box is broken or the piston could be stuck in the slave

Mine had similar problems.

Check the level of fluid in the master cyl and look for any signs of leakage. Because of the way the clutch pedal is set up if you push the clutch in not streight it will cause the piston in the master cyl to wear the inside of the master causing leakage. Just pull it off and get it re sleaved if thats the problem.

Also when my slide bearing went (was in rainy weather in the shire also lol) the symptoms were similar as it wouldnt disengage and engage properly is there any rattleing feeling in the pedal?

Just PM me if ya want me to have a look for you im in the shire too.

Good suggestions 731200.

I wouldn't recommend a re-sleeve. You can buy brake master cylinders for cheaper than it costs for a re-sleeve. Your idea on the "slide bearing" (throwout bearing) is a good thought.

Cable ??????
There should be no cable
It should be hydrollic (cant spell)
If the box has been modified to use a cable then I assume this is the problem.
Ring the person you bought the car from they might be able to help you out.

When you say its heaps smooth when yours selecting a gear is that compared to when it was playing up on the rainy day or compared to when you first got the car?

I really think you should jack up the car and have a look and see weather it got a clutch Slave Cylender and hopefully no cable.

No hydrolic clutch I have ever seen has had a cable aswell but I might be wrong.
