Translation is you're a beginning driver who lost his license (or permit) and just got it back (on probation)?
Mat
Over here, when someone gets their first licence it is a restricted "provisional" licecnce & they must display the provided red "P" plate on their car. Drivers are speed limited to 90 kph & the drivers point score limit is much lower.
Any traffic offence not only attracts the penalty of a fine, but also a demerit points penalty. The actual number of demerit points depends on the seriousness of the offence. In NSW, the accumulation of 13 points is enough to lose your licence, but for red "P" platers, it's about 3 or 4 points.

At the end of one year, the licence can be renewed & the driver now displays a green "P" plate. The speed restriction is raised to 100 kph & the point score is adjusted. This licence lasts for two years. [from memory]

When this term expires, a full licence is granted & the only speed restriction is the posted speed limit. The hope is that the driver has learned to drive by then, however, there are far too many who are hell bent on proving otherwise.

in South Australia you get four points and you can't have any alcohol at all in your blood at all... not even one beer, i guess they are trying to form a habbit?

we only have the red P's which you are on for 2 years. If you loose your license, you get it back in 6 months. Or you can appeal it

there is talk of changing to the P1,P2 system though.

in WA you have all 12 points and you also have a Blood Alchahol reading of 0.2 it's not much but you can have one beer......

and it's only the one P plate and you aren't restricted to 90km/h anymore it is 100km/h

wish they had that setup when i was doing my license.
but i didn't have to do a log book like the new ones.....

In tasmania its, no alcohol in body, 80km/h speed limit,
and we only have red Plates but after first year you dont need the plates and the speed limit is removed. but the no booze thing is there until you get your full licence, im unsure about how many points you get
so your still a provisional driver until your like 20 (if you get you licence when your 17) i think it could be 21...

In Victoria you get the red P-plates for 3 years, no speed restrictions (that I know of... I should probably check) a blood alcohol of zero and 5 points to your licence.

I didnt have to do a log book as a learner, they only just introduced that as I passed my P's. Yay.

I rear ended someone's falcon 10 days after getting my licence in my mum's car.
$50 damage to his...... $1200 my end. Ouch.

Good luck buddy! Happy driving *broom broom*

Edit: To pass your licence you have to do a computer test as well as a driving test. And the driving test was stupid, it doesnt actually test anything... hence so many useless P-platers like me!

i only had to do a practical test for my p's.
i had to get 50hrs logbooked on my L's only took 11 months...

but yeah they should make you do another computer test for your P's and an advanced driver training course (why not it'd be fun, and some people could use it)

Good to see you got the P's tom maybe when we have a meeting down the North-west coast you can drive on down to it.

now you just have to watch out for all the d-ck head drivers on the road.

you're restricted to 100km/h on your L's. Once you get your P's you can do 110, but its 2 years on your P's instead of 1. (oh that extra 10km/h !! )

I got a month to go before i can throw those plastic things in the bin.... yipee!!!
