I have a B310 with A12 engine and 4 speed gear box (with only some small modifications, such as increased compression ratio, KN air filter,...). The problem is that by now it can do something like 6600 RPM in 4th gear. The 4th gear ratio is 1.0:1.0 and the diff ratio is 4.1:1. I feel that it is time to increase the overall gear ratio.

I thinked about getting a 5 speed B310-A15 gearbox, however (i think) the 5th ratio is 1.0:1.0 and so no improvement can be made.

The main difference is on the diff since B310 with A12 is 4.1:1 and A15 is 3.x:1. However the B310 with A15 is hard to get around here.

I have two doubts:

i) Is it possible to change the gear box ratios?

ii)Is it possible to change the diff ratio keeping the diff case?

Thanks, any sugestions will be appreciated

Ric.

Sorry for my ignorance, i don't know it. I only know that it is 4.1:1 and it has sprung type suspension (it is a litle diferent from the 1200 rear suspension).
However i think that 3.9 will be great.
May i change just the center (the gears, i don

the diff in a b310 sunny is a h150 orphan, available only in sunny's & 120y's,with a 3.89:1 ratio.that's in australia anyway.a pa10 rearend (stanza here, violet in britain,1600 in america, don't know in europe)will bolt in with a 3.7:1 ratio.this little pamphlet i got with the part numbers says ''since no lsd is available for the h150,use the below-listed h165b type final drive parts instead with modification before installation".this seems to mean nothing fits without lots of bother.you could probably fit the crown wheel & pinion of the h165 into the h150,but i i've never heard of it being done.i've got a h150 3.89:1 diff ratio here in sydney, but it's on the wrong side of the world for riclage.wonder how much shipping to portugal would cost.

b310gx

I think the shipping will cost a lot, however yesterday i was talking about going to australia someday. How much will the diff cost down there?

Tell me, the 1600 diff fits in the B310? Because it is 3.7:1 and i know where i can get one. But it is not rigid, i think? I think it is independent on the rear wheels. However if it fits i don't need to go to australia to get one diff.

Thanks

Ric

sorry ric,was showing off to someone else.the a10 violet in australia uses a h165 solid diff,it was called a 1600 in america but is completely different to the p510.it is a bolt in to the sunny,i'm trying to find one for a friends sunny coupe at the moment.you'd just have to have the tailshaft shortened slightly.amazingly, the length is the same as a datsun 1200 ute tailshaft.maybe the violet a10 was independent in europe.look under http://members.fortunecity.com/mang01/nissans.htm under stanza, for pictures of the model i'm refering to.the model was also called the 160j.hope this helps.

ric,it probably is.datsun called these cars so many different things,it's hard to know what to call it.if a 160b is a similar shape to the p510 1600,& is rear wheel drive, check it out,& with any luck, you'll be ok.the model in question had a 1.6 litre l series motor, twin round headlights,& as i said,is reminiscent of the original 1600.the cars were made late 70's/early eighty's if this helps any.hope they were released in portugal,so you can find one.

I have seen some Australian Stanzas and they are very similar to 160B however i think that Stanza is the PA10 and 160B is the 610.

I have to see it. Else i have to try another thing.
