Interesting that these were still called Toyopet's' in Japan while they were known as Toyota's here & in other markets. Australia got these five door models, but I have only ever seen two or three since they were new.

Hey I've got one of these, a '69 sedan, just rusting away with a bent output shaft and broken g'box housing... Its got guard-mounted mirrors, hubcaps and all. Such a waste

Shovel nose Corona was the first car I ever had, four door.
The GT was the one to get, two door with the 1600 twin cam.

Yes, that funny. I thought they stopped using the name Toyopet around 1960. It was a model name, they were called Toyota Toyopet Corona or Toyopet Crown for the larger model.
Also, I've never seen a Corona 5-door or hatchback or whatever this one is. In the USA in these years (circa 1967) I only recall seeing the 4-dr sedans. They had a rather pedestrian engine. I suppose this one has a different engine, or it is supercharged.

Datsun didnt really have a small performance car like the Bellet GTR or the Corona twin cam,I spose the Bluebird coupe would have been the closest thing, but its a bit bigger.

If Mat had captured the photo & made it a bit smaller, the writing at the top right of the photo would be more readily seen. If you think that the original Corona pedestrian, you should have driven my 1963 Toyota Tiara from which the Corona line was derived. It's 1400 engine was basicly the same, but with combustion chambers like an old Chev six and a bottom end that tended to need bearings anytime after about 80,000 miles. My sister in law had one too with the same problem.
