Can anyone tell me whether the 1200 ute had a bench seat with a 4 on the floor or was it a column shift. From my memory the four on the floor would have had bucket seats (if there was one at all)

Hey there,

The Roadstars (1200 datsun utes) in NZ, came with 4 on the floor and 2 single seats.

Not the roomiest cab in the world - but hey it's a dato and i'm stoked!

Cheers

I don't believe that any bench seated cars would have had floor shift...
Probably wrong though.
Wouldn't a passenger kick the gearstick?
And it would be too comfortable to molest your passenger everytime you change gears.
Plus if you crash you would be impaled through the groin with the gearstick if you were the passenger.

Datsun 520 pickup. And yes, the middle passenger had to straddle the gearshift ...

The new 2004 utes apparently have an optional bench seat: nissan.co.za

It was said ADR requires 2 seats in the utes: Bench seat for 1200 ute
