I drove the ute from one end of town to another yesterday (from my suspension place to my autoelectrician)

Oh man it was fun! Im happy to report that the seats are amazingly comfortable and the paint really got allot of peoples attention

On the way down a major road i was going really slow (cause my bearing was making strange noises) and a mustang pulled up behind me and started flashing his lights... when i ignored the guy he pulled up beside me at the next lights and started telling me how stupid it was to have racing stripes on somthing so "weak and puny"

Now for the climax... He started revving his engine and staring at me- I was insulted and decided that for good or for bad my datto had to at least attempt to show this douchbag a thing or two (completly stock 1400 So here i am revving my poor ute with all my pride on the line... And mean while there are cars pulling up behind us, watching in facination as a 5ltr v8 mustang and a 1.4 ltr Datsun get ready to drag...

1.....2......3.... the lights go green and i drop the clutch- my rear tyres give a little chirp and im off- after intense focus on the road ahead & changing gears as quickly as possible i finally look to see where my opponent was- IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR! It seems the jerk stalled at the lights in all his excitment to beat me! Oh man i laughed - so i think iv'e earned my racing stripes.

Johny

hehehehehehee! woohoo i love it!!! 1200 +1 , 5 liter stang 0.... he would be sooo pissed just dont race him next time, that would really get up his nose. he wouldnt be able to prove his point. i can imagine his big ego would have been sooo hurt, having it look like he was too intimidated by the same car he was bagging moments before be carefull though as they say "big v8, little brain" , just what I heard I dont want to start a riot or anything

How did you go with the chassis straightening problem?

datsundonnie, I have a Datsun 1200 and a Mustang 5.0. The Mustang is not a rustbucket, nor does it burn any oil. Trust me, the Mustang is far quicker than an A14-powered 1200. datsundonnie, with your high-hp Toyoda engine, yours might be faster than a 5.0.

In any case, I'd rather have the 1200 -- it's more fun! How many stories we have to tell.

Yeah it was so funny i had to share it The guy did look really pissed off...

Dodgeman-I put the ute on a chassis straightener ( it turns out my panelbeater has one...) And he fixed up the allignment problem. The left strut is still bent & I cant fix it untill I get a new crossmember.... It was an interesting drive.

Lobster- it was on canberra avenue coming out of Queenbeyan- at the lights crossing hindmarsh drive. Pretty busy intersection

Well excuse me!!!

I am one of those 5.0 boys as it was my 2nd
car I've had mine for 18 years and she is still
very quick...BUT I've had my Datto for 22
years and my goal is to have it much faster ,
if I can ever get the thing done....

p.s. anybody want to buy an 86 mustang gt
as it doesn't fit with the family plans anymore?

Haha, nice one Johnny,

We have to arrange for another cruise in the near future, get Tommy, Vaz and yourself along for the ride, I might be able to convince my little bro to drive my other ute as well!

Catchya round some time,
(nice work with the Mustang!)

Huzzah good to hear astro boy, i spent a lg trip down Stock road one night and spent the trip boxing in a VS 5ltr was so fun he was so angry every time there was a gap i'd drop it back to third stab it and just fill it enough for him to not fit. i did this for about 20Km's by the end of it he was ready to get out of the car, for the simple fact he made a bad judge and cut me off.
