Help i've got a ca that we got in a front cut we put it in and it was smoking on deceleration, It was leaking oil & water around the head so we pulled it down and there was a milkshake so we serviced the head changed the gasket and just got it back together and it is still doing it!
Mechanic is not sure what it is he said it might be the rings from sitting around or the turbo seals but i dont really want to spend $$$$ on the wrong thing and it still does not fix it,
Has these symptons happened to anyone? HELP!

milkshake = headgasket.

When you say 'serviced the head' what did that entail?

If it's still doing afterwards it's probably warped the head..did you run a straight-edge over the block mating surfaces?

Headgaskets blow after running engines too hot or from inadequate torque on the head bolts. When stuff gets hot, things can be permanently damaged, like warped head. This can sometimes be fixed with a shave in a mill, but it's more easily fixed with another head.

It might be a blown oil seal in the turbo.
Clean the intake piping in hot soapy water, put it on and go for a drive until it smokes again. Check for oil in the piping.

Good luck,
Chris

Been out all arvo at different mechanics.
So if i think i've just got to bite the bullet and have a crack at the 10 sec mark eg. $$$$ forged pistons bore out and so on should go good with the t3/t4 turbo and injectors.
They decked the head and it was all checked and blueprinted the first time so it wasn't warped would you know a roundabout price for pistons,rings,40th over bore out, bearings and so on?

If they blueprinted it doesn't that mean bottom end? which will surely mean the rings were replaced, check compression. if its down then put some oil in through the spark plug hole and check again. if the comp raises then its rings, if not i'd be looking at valve stem seals. other than that i'd say turbo oil seal. I have a fully rebuilt motor for sale that could solve all your problems...

Not to sure they thought it was the valve stem seals im just going to get it rebuilt because i dont want to go through all the hassle of taking the engine out and it doesnt fix the problem.
How much you got on your engine?

I'd check his engine price against your rebuild price. I have a feeling the Lagwagon engine would be a significantly cheaper option...

i've sent an L18 to queensland before, twas about $160 or something. Do you want it stock or with bigger injectors, turbo, AFM, and unused stainless manifold? i've listed all thats been done to it in the "LAGWAGON's conversion gear" thread i have sold most of the extra bits so all thats left is the motor.

The motor...
The motor was rebuilt and every gasket was replaced. all assembly and machining was done by headtech cylinder heads who know their CA's inside out.
Crank was ground to accept oversized king race bearings
block was hot tanked then honed and decked
pistons were fitted with molly rings.
The head got a freshen up with a surface grind and was then tanked. the valve stem seals were replaced and valves all checked to be sealing correctly. all chambers were deburred.
i removed all the pointless crap you don't need from the inlet manifold so there are minimal vaccum lines and water lines running around making any maintainence easier and looks heaps better, manifold was thoroughly cleaned.
all the gaskets, seals, welch plugs, head studs, cam belt were replaced so it was a new motor again.

motor was run in meticulously (2500kms) and has been treated properly. with the necessary oil and filter changes carried out.

motor has about 8000km's (max) on it now.

Motor with the GTR 444cc injectors $1650.

cheers
Leigh
