Hey guys, just wondering with a stumpy skyline box, would i have to get a bell housing made to mate it to a CA18 or will it bolt straight up?

I've never done it, but I think you use the CA20 S3 bluey bellhousing

which is the best box to use in a 77'1200ute with a ca18det without cutting the tranny tunnel and without too much drama? also which is the best tailshaft. im planning on running a ca18det r30box 200b shortend tailshaft with a h165diff? does this sound like a good combo or is there better?

campo, i have done what you are taking about, i used the CA18DET gearbox front half mated to the stumpy gears and rear casing. You have to swap the main bearing over as they era different sizes.

I also used a 1600 one piece tail shaft and swaped the rear yoke to suit the r31 diff im using. Did not need any change in the length.

did you have to cut the tunnel? i dont fully understand. i havnt done much study on gearboxes and tailshafts as yet. so you used the case of the r30 and put cabox gears inside?

You use the r30 gears and rear case, and the CA18 front case. Standard tunnel but you have to cut off the original gearbox mounting points, as they stick out to much.
