People keep refering to building a "donk" on this site. Is this some Aussi or Kiwi slang term that I don't know? Sorry but I'm from Texas so I might be a little
thick sometimes. Thanks.

I've never met a thick Texan before - mind you I was living in the South in NC. If you appreciate 1200's then you can't be thick.
Donk is a kiwi slang term for motor and is short for, you guessed it, donkey. It's origins come from horsepower as in how many HP is your motor - the US equivalent is ponies.

Kiwis are innovative with language thus: 'What size is your donk?' and 'That's a smaller donk than I was expecting' are perfectly acceptable in NZ. Saying those sort of
things overseas can get your eyes stabbed out.
Tonight's homework is to go over to your neighbor's house and ask if he minds you checking out the size of his donk. Let us know his reaction.

Donk (>do^nk>..)
An onomatopheia of the sound when a Datsun 1200 engine hits you on the head whilst executing an
engine mount change.

Sorry about the last crack at dimlight65...

Teretonga got me a little riled up...its the competitive nature in me..by the way Teretonga have a nice ride home.

Both myself and teretonga are currently looking for a 1200 coupe to circuit race, we live in Sydney so something in the neighbourhood would be nice. If anyone would like to
post any info that could help us it ould be great.

I'm in Fort Worth. If you have been here and seen a Yellow and Black 1200 with 510 flares and a windshield banner that reads "CHICKENHAWK" that's my car. Incidentally, the chickenhawk
is in reference to the Warner Brothers cartoon and not some sexual perversion. I'm still new to the internet so I don't know how to link, but you can see my car at www.fiveoneoh.net
under "pictures of some Texas dimes" in the photo gallery.

the same route, any ideas, sugestions, what kind of a headache was that project?. How bad was that on your pocket.

Thanks, that was the first of many 1200s that I have. It's the only one that is radically hot-rodded though. The reason I went with the Z-20 engine was it was what I had on hand. I was
building a 1980 510 into a rally car when I came across the 1200. The engine and transmission fell right into place and all I had to do was fabricate mounts. The 510 has a front sump pan
whereas the 200SX is rear I believe. I am using the 4-speed from the 510 right now with a B-210 rear axle and driveshaft. The 200SX 5-speed is considerably longer than the 510's so you might
have a problem there. The rear end might give trouble too since the 200SX uses a four link and coil springs. All in all it was a relatively easy swap and pretty cheap since I had all of the
parts on hand. That engine makes tons of torque so the car really scoots. I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of using that engine in a 1200 if you have the right pan and transmission. Best of
luck to you!
