how did u figure out that i cant afford a reliable 4agte if i cant afford a bigger box.
I dont have a box to start with.
And unfamiliar
Isnt a toploader a manual box out of a ford.
You said to 120y its a auto.....

Now
dellow price for bellhousing + box ($1500-$2000)

t50 complete from starter to yoke $700

c4 or trimatic box $250 adapter plate $300 auto rwd bellhousing flex plate starter????(hard to find)and the biggy Custom converter $1000
untill i quoted a converter it was cheep.

Its easy to say go for a supra or celica box but when dellow wants that much its hard not to go the option thats half the price and guaranteed to do the same job.

I have been with a friend drifting with a t50 box in a sprinter and i would never in a million years treat the gears like he did and he has never blown a box yet and has had the car for 3 years.
it was na but had after market computer and the works.

To 120y

toploader
what would be involved
would i have to run a t50 housing clutch etc
What exactly is involved.
Dad has a toploader laying around but didnt think it was possible.
Or were u joking.
BIG MOTOR TOP LOADER>>>>>>>>>>

ie, if you buy the cheap box you are more likely to break down than if you buy the exspensive box.

Just a guess but I think thats what he means

Your heeps smart.
i can afford it just think its expensive for a bellhousing.
and as i said i wouldnt be driving it as hard as sprinterr drivers.
Ways less.
Stock boost.
Also if it did blow i would need half the stuff for another manual conversion.
housing
starter
speedo
dust cover
Slave cylinder
The only thing i will throw if blows is the actual case everthing else i need as
I bought minus engine and box.....
engines turboed and hooked up
Now time to decide box.
Dont get me rong id love to go bullet proof supra
I just dont want to spend that much with dellow when every1 i have spoken to has said there poor quality.

Also
toymods.net requires $50 join fee.
I only need info on box and should be rite.
I wouldnt get the use out of it as i realy dont like toyotas.

Thanks all

Its not the box that scares me.

Add up all in the list thats needed and its over 1000 just for a complete bellhousing.
Then box

Im looking at 1500 2000
for a box......stuff that.cant afford it.

im not getting started, im responding to information you provided and offering alternatives.... top loader is a 4 speed, i was reffering toi the auto comment.

im not getting involved anymore with offering advise where its obviously not wanted or absorbed.

good luck and enjoy it once your brother finishes it.

just spoke to a mate tha picked up a t50 for his sprinter for $100, from starter and guy was almost going to throw in the tail shaft too.... its amazing what yu find on certain toyota forums... sydney prices higher, or takumi tax is running higher there.

just parts is good but if you physically look at places (wreckers etc) and talk to them in the flesh, they usually are beeter and can give better prices than over the phone (in my expereince).

And if your a woman who knows about cars and are not rude but walk the walk and talk the talk, they will respect you

that's some good advice Meg, Just Parts is great for looking for this stuff. you can also look for swap meets and what not as well they will be pretty handy if you can get to a swap meet or something

A N/A motor doesn't make the same amount of torque as a turbo engine and thats what (helps to) break boxes. In MOST instances a turbo motor will make somethin like 50% more torque and its this that kills boxes.

and I'm not tryin to be a prick....just tryin to save you money IN THE LONG RUN.

And as Unfamiliar has already stated......Your the one who said you coudn't afford it...thats why I said what I said!!!
