well i can't help you with the install, but be warned that you will likely not get back more than a small percentage of your investment when it comes time to sell

in the past, we've seen a least a couple guys give away similar cars that have had thousands into them

Go ahead,Why not.
Be warned though it will cost more than you think, It will also take longer that you think.(mine did anyhow).
I was happy with my little a12 datto but wanted more power.
I decided to go for an L20b motor into a 120y. It was a time consuming job for my mechanic but he will freely admit not rocket science.
The fj should be an easy fit. You will probably need a new crossmember , struts, heavy springs, gearbox, radiator, custom tailshaft, hydraulic pedal box clutch thingy, at least 13"rims (to clear the bigger brakes) and most likely a stronger diff.
Best of luck what ever you do.
Love the coupe

There's one particular 120Y that's been done - use the search box on the left and search for FJ20 120Y.

Plenty of pics

I've seen a couple.......

There's a nice orange 1200 ute w/an FJ20 here in Brissy somewhere.
There's also a very tidy blue FJ20 1200 ute in Canberra.
So 120Y shouldn't be a problem.....

Before you do it though, I'd ask what's the intended pupose?
Reason being FJ20's are pretty heavy (cast iron block) & when you shoehorn one of these into a 1200, they don't tend to go around corners real well.

Good strip motor though......

buy the motor, sell it and use your profit to buy a ca18. Theres a few FJ 120Ys around, I wasnt particularly impressed with the one I drove. I think there was a 240rwkw FJ20 120Y sold for $4500 on here recently, sans brakes and diff

What are the z18 out of? I thought honestly the fj20 would be a step backwards. The l20b would be a better chioce, but thats my opinion. And is there anyone that is selling an l20b or evan a z18?
