I know it seems bots are getting on this site so frequent and advertising stuff, but I thought I would use this one off oppurtunity to give my new business venture a bit of a plug.

I could be off the mark, and out of line ..but..

Business venture + asking friends + only part time + improve lifestyle + not a scam = AMWAY

I've had 2 or 3 generations of friends from various workplaces try their hand at this kind of recruitment.

Sounds like a strange religious cult to me...

(ie - AMWAY or Tupperware)

or Herbalife, Melaleuca, etc.

If it is one of these take some friendly advice...

1. Put a business plan together.
2. Give yourself a realistic hourly figure of your worth whilst doing the work required so as to gauge if the business is successful
3. Have a predetermined amount of money you are willing to put into it, if it goes over that amount be prepared to walk away.

Basically the test if you business venture is a pyramid marketing scheme (and this a scam and illegal) is:

1. A hefty sign up fee to become part of the business "to show you are serious"

2. Taking a % of your "downstream" sales

3. You are pushed to keep signing up people below you.

4. They want you to buy motivational tapes, DVD, go to conferences...far a small charge.

There are hundreds of these 'companies' around selling everything from toiletries to home phone plans.

If you are in deep, the best thing to do is cancell your credit card and walk away, the longer you stay the poorer you will be.

There is a list of dodgy companies on that MLM website - have a look through it.

A bunch of people at my company got into one of these scams Omegatrend it was called....they are all a lot poorer now.

I only make such a long post about this as I had to see people taken advantage of.

A lot of well meaning guys at work were ripped pretty hard (>$2000) from these kind of operations.

Omegatrend was one (selling amway type products), but also home loans and all sorts of other stuff.

Another was ACL that sold home phone plans, with the sellers getting a % share of their downstream sellers income.

They all work on the same premise and all end up the same way - everyone with a lot less money execpt the guys that came up with the business/scam.

Do your research, and do it thoroughly.
