Has anybody put a VG30 into a 1200? I was goimg to buy a CA18DET to put in my ute, but I already have a 300ZX motor, and when I measure it up,it looks like it will fit. Does anyone know of
any problems with this conversion (the only bit that looks like it will be a problem is the exhaust clearing the steering idler.)I know the VG30 is a lot heavier than the CA18, but its
worth a try. I may be able to sort the handling if it affects it that badly, after all I can always convert back to a CA18 later. Also, anybody got any tailgate clamps for my ute or do ya
know where I can get them?(utes were never sold here so parts are harder to get)
EDDIE.

We have nearly finished a VG20 conversion on a 1200 ute main problem being the gearbox is huge and also back to of engine with crossover pipe for exhuast is a real pain in the butt. The
Vg20 is same size as the vg30 but not legal in NSW Australia. I was contemplating a Vg30 quad cam turbo in a 1200 ute with auto (for drag racing)but would cost a bit to much plus
getting traction with 300+kw would be a big ask.

Are you using a manual box? At the moment my vg30 has an auto on it, which I was going to use, as I would like to drag race the ute occasionally and I thought it would help with
traction and consistency. The motor I have is a bit less powerfull than the turbo but I'm sure it will be enough for some fun! It looks like the engine will fit without cutting
the bulkhead(firewall) did you cut it? Are you going to put up any pics of your ute?
