found it on ebay last week, and immediately recognised it from 1200.com - its shirley, the 120Y wagon! won it Friday night for a pretty good price and picked it up yesterday

she's in pretty good shape. very little rust - I mean almost nothing! nothing in the tailgate, doors, or corners of the engine bay and cowl where they all go. Gotta love country cars! Its even reasonably straight with just a handful of very minor dents. paints faded badly though.

the engine's good. L20, 5spd, twin webbers, Stratos seats, Stanza struts, some nice little 13" mags. Its even mod plated already!

its going to be my run-around car. nice and cheap on fuel compared to the Patrol and Supra (the Sup's for sale btw), but I'm sure I'll be tinkering with the suspension before long, and give it a quick lick of paint. I'm having evil thoughts about how much fun it would be to hillclimb too... but first things first, she should be back on the road next week!

It does indeed look very clean!

Selling the Supra? Does that mean your back in the 1200 Coupe?

so what was the go with "this car cannot be driven on the road" did that mean it wasn't registered or that it couldn't be registered?

technically they're right - its got a locked diff which makes it illegal for road use. And I haven't checked all the codes on the mod plate yet, there may be something not engineered. I could only remember LA1 Engine substitution. i have the list of codes now so I'll check that out tonight. A mate of mine is an approved engineer so as long as its well constructed it won't be a problem. I'll be giving it a once over this weekend then rego next week.

reminds me, I need to find a rear seat! anyone???

I can get you a seat, postage would be ridiculous though!

I'd say so! I'll try and find one locally, or mod plate it as a 2 seater hehe think of it more as a 4dr panelvan than a 2 seater wagon

www.superlap.com.au

basically a supersprint, but more in the JDM Tsukuba Superlap style. It was run at Oran Park a couple of weeks ago and attracted some very serious machinery. was great fun!

some photos here
