as i was working away under the bonnet of my sunny at the buggered water pump, i got to thinking about electric water pumps, and whether there are any that work with A series
donks...
I was talking to chris lott about them, and he didnt know of any (but we weren't talking about rocker cover physics, so he probably wasnt interested...), so anyone else know of
any? are kits available, or modifyable?
Also, geardrives - i asked about them a while back, anyone heard of any?

cheers, Linc.

Linc, I've been thinking about the same thing for some time now. Demon Tweeks in England has an external unit that goes inline in the lower radiator hose (sort of) and is
thermostatically controlled. I guess you would have to build a blockoff plate to replace the stock pump too. Its a bit pricey for me though. I was thinking of trying to find a
pump that would have the requisite flow and making one myself. It wouldn't have the thermostat control but it should still work.

The inline unit you are refering to is made by Davies Craig in Australia. We have fitted some where I work to some large 6 cyl cars any they have worked well, so 4cyl,
no matter how modified shouldn't be a problem. I would doubt the horsepower increase on a 4cyl would make them a cost effective modification. But hey, each to their own.
Have fun

I agree, The Craig Davies Electric water pump is $300 (Aus) and the controller is $300 (aus), I'd bet the perfomance increase isn't $600 worth. For not much more I'll you my
turbo setup :)
I also found this comment about Craig Davies on autospeed : http://www.autospeed.com/A_0569/P_1/article.html

Which is interesting.

Yeah...but if you've got a $3000 exotic turbo.. it's a good turbo timer solution. I'm looking at using one of these in conjunction with an external oil pump to keep the fluid running
around my turbo for 5 minutes after the engine is turned off. It'll use valves and extra piping to bypass the regular oil pump. After seeing the carbon buildup on the exhaust side of my
previous turbo, that lead to it locking up...It's worth the effort. As is using synthetic Oil in turbo engines.

ps. I busted my previous large T25 turbo by trying to undo the axle nut anticlockwise...they are a reverse thread! So hopefully if you guys ever try and pull one of these apart, remember
this!

did the nut have a groove around the circumference?i think usually when a nut has a groove in it, it means reverse thread,
or gas thread.......i dunno

You could be right..either way it's buggered.
I went 'Oh f#$k' when it happened. But it forces me to get another one that's bigger...might send me broke..good thing I'm
doing well at work...

Thanks for the warning about the nut! Let us know how you go with the turbo timer set-up and getting a bigger turbo - I was thinking of doing the same but they're not cheap!
(especially when my paint job is costing $3,500)
