I got up early to bid on this, got to the last 30 seconds and my internet decided to slow right down.

Missed out. Normally valued at US$150 it only went for a third of that.

To put it into perspective and Australian buyer would have landed this posted for about AU$130 had they won the auction at that price.

Thanks for nothing 3G mobile internet!

Good buy and well done to whoever got it.

Its annoying when that happens...damn internet. Hopefully there is more of these left. I
will see if I can dig up the contact details of the guy who had them made. I was lucky enough to buy the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of these of the remake original. The contact was in Switzerland and the covers were cast in Germany

edit: the one in the picture above would be the 4th one i brought in. The L-series oil filler is something myself and Dodgeman came up with. It involved sacrificing L-series originals and I used a great machinist mate to fit them to the armbrust covers.

Yeah I'm not really into the flash rockers, I just saw it sitting at $10 US so I thought I'd watch it.

It's the first it has happened to me (the net playing up) sort of a good thing though because I've been spending alot lately.

I have found the links to the bloke you bought them off (runs the cherry site). I may go for the BMC A series covers though that Sidedraught mentioned.

It looks like the original first set (first batch) had a press in lid which I hate. Great move on making it a thread in arrangement!

This would have looked great with my shiny quad carb manifold....sigh...

Also as far as I can tell, "Armbrust" was [or still is] a tuning company that had significant input into the racing cherry's in Europe during the seventies. From memory "Armbrust" was a swiss company

Nobody in USA wants to pay $150 for an alloy rocker cover.
It doesn't make the car go any faster.

I see it as buying a little piece of history...Sure $150 US could be deemed pricey in our current economic climate..

The guy selling the rocker cover on ebay was the same guy that had the Datsun Cherry I posted here a few weeks ago. He imported it from England I believe.
He has loads of other parts.Quote:

It would be worthwhile if there are numbers interested in such a cover to check for pricing for copies in China.
Youd be surprised to see what they could be made for there especially know with their economic slowdown.
Be prepared to watch Foreign Correspondent on Tuesday it will show hundreds of emptied factories and millions of workers out of jobs who where in full swing factories recently.

Im guessing a small run of 50 to be a very good price.

Can they make them $20 each in quantity of $100? After shipping, etc, they'd be $50 each. I had bid $50 less shipping. Didn't want to pay more than that.

The Armbrust is the best looking of all I think.
