i have a s13 manual gearbox behind my ca18det in my coupe and when im lets say "up it for the rent" the oil in the box builds up in the shifter hole and comes out the top. the oil level is correct but i was wondering could it be the angle of the motor and box is leaning to far backwards or somethings else . has anyone else found this problem?

hmmm im yet to drive mine, but i wouldnt mind knowing if there is a solution too!
While on the topic of CA's and oil, on the drivers side rocker cover there is the breather hose that goes down to the oil filter housing (head drain??) is it save to just block this up and weld the hole up in the cover? i welded mine up when fitting the dash fittings and didnt think of it lol.

do you have the proper rubber boot over the shifter? what angle do you have your motor and box on? i have seen transplants when the box is too low and motor is too high, so when you fill you gearbox to the filler hole you would actually have too much oil in the box.

mine was zipped tied top and bottom.

Same issue I think.

Initally thought it was yoke seal, but have replaced 2 of these. Made a new gear stick boot, but still does it.

Have got genuine boot to fit now. (Can post up part number) Will see if this improves things.

Does the box sloap down in the silvia. As cant see any way of getting it level in a 1200

i do have one of those boots although it is split . i just thought that it shouldnt build up that much oil in there anyway . i also was pretty sure that boot is just a dust boot.

Was told when asked this question on here months ago that it is common for CA to leak around that boot if it is not in good con.

But as you say it's only when the car gets the beans for a while that it becomes an issue.

Goin to replace this seal, new yoke and check breather. If this still does not fix it then I will drop oil level in box and assume box is on to much of an angle.
