hey there i have a 69 1000 im fixing slowly once this snow is gone.
my car runs but not well have to have the choke open to have it run properly. i would like to replace it as i dont know how to rebuild a carb.
i would like to know what there is for side draft carbs or something like that for the 1000 or are they the same as the 1200. i seen a 1000 with a 1200 engine on youtube i think that guys on this forum but i may be wrong. but thats what i want for my car. or a new carb so i can take it out on the road this summer.
also looking for a new rebuild head or the parts to fix mine. i have a short block crate engine i want to build up this summer with out pulling the original one apart

Hello to the breadbasket of Canada!
Sorry to hear about the snow. Ours has all melted after a few days.

Yes, a choke needs to be open to run properly. It should work with a simple adjustment.

Got any photos of it?

I think he means that he is partially using the choke to keep it running.

Pulling the choke knob out closes the choke
Pushing it all the way in opens the choke

If it won't run with the choke open, engine warm, you have an air leak. Better to fix that than buy a new carburetor and find out it doesn't fix it.

A piece of hose in the ear is a good way to find air leaks. One end in the ear, move the other end around the flanges, carby safts etc. you'll soon hear if there's air whistling through somewhere it shouldn't. Not recommended for exhaust leaks, you could deafen yourself.
