What are you doing for ignition. If you're sticking with a distributor, even if you control it from the MS you'll probably find MSI is sufficient for what you're doing. Batch injection would be fine on that intake. Good luck with it and don't be surprised if you spend 4x longer than you think wiring/ figuring out where to put stuff.

MSII will drive wasted spark directly with a 36-1 or similar trigger off the crank. I believe it's cheaper and more easily customised (if you want to do that).

I chose to use an EDIS8 and a 36-1 wheel in the dizzy for my ignition, gives me coil per plug and a strong spark. Hopefully I'll be able to run it leaner at idle and part throttle with the stronger spark. I also find there's a lot of info around for MS (google, forums, MS site), I can't speak for microtech since I've only played with MS. I'm sure it's a good unit, someone else here can probably talk the benefits of that system.

You can buy pre-assembled Megasquirt. Much easier than a building from a kit. Either way they will do COP or 4-coil setups. No need to use a distributor, although they will handle that too.

Megasquirt can do anything more expensive units will do, I reckon. There is more DIY to it though. On the plus side it doesn't need expensive dyno tuning. Instead you can use charts to adjust for Datsun sensors/injectors and use a standard tune that will work quite well. For fine tuning you can use a wideband O2 sensor or pay someone to do dyno tuning.

Where did people get their Megasquirts from, I was looking at a MS3pro from DIY auto tune. But by the time i factor in exchange rate, postage and import duty it works out to be pretty expensive. What is the cheaper option that i am missing?

Could get the MS3pro motherboard by itself and avoid import tax due to the lower cost. But then have to make a case, wire in plugs and build a loom which i really dont feel like doing.

Or are there any US members that feel like helping me out?
