Hey guys,
Can someone please post up or write up everything needed (ecu, turbo, supercharger etc) and also how to turbocharge or supercharge a carburetor engine esp an A-series.
So from parts to the tuning side of things.
Also if someone could post up how to do this and on different budgets. From cheap to expensive setups.
Maybe even put it on tech wiki.
or even direct me to threads i might have missed.
Cheers

if you go to groups.yahoo.com look for a group called "carbureted blowers". It hasn't had more than about 5-6 posts in the last couple of years, but when it first started (in the 90s) it was called 'blowthruturbo' and the archives of it contain absolute truckloads of info about blowthrough carb setups. There is in fact some discussion of drawthrough setups. I'm not sure if the archives are searchable without joining the group, and since the group has been somewhat 'dead' for a long time, I don't know if the moderate still visits there so I can't say for sure you'll be able to sign up and be approved.

There is also a site called 'vs57.com' (if I'm remembering it accurately) that had a bunch of info about the mc-culloch/paxton superchargers from 50+ years ago (factory fitted on some studebakers among others). There was a lot of carb info on that site too, if it's still there.

There's also a forum called 'turbomustangs' that has a blowthrough carbed section with lots of info. (Drawthrough is arguably a little easier for a first time setup, but blowthrough has some advantages). If I ever find enough free time, I'll try and do a how to write up, but I doubt I'd get it done in the next few weeks! In the meantime those suggested online sources should be a good place to start to get a foundation of how/why to do it.

ECU is almost never used with a carbureted engine. Just make absolutely sure it is jetted rich then simple setups work well with a completely stock A-series engine. Note that other engines may need lots of engine work to survive, but the a-series is tough to begin with. Sikyne made 160 HP from stock A12 with stock A14 head.

Topgear locked his stock points dizzie at 10 degrees, cheap as chips just shy of 100kws at the wheels it seemed to make a good alternative to a stock sr20de or ca18de for hp and Tq with 35kg less weight. Thick ringed pistons on the A series and even its lesser hp competitor K series corolla engines have amazed many. There have been 3 or more A12-A15 turbo setups across the world ranging from 200hp-370hp in QLD, Perth, Vic and Finland.

Even in NA Rallytwit proved in the past using stock prepped internals along with some arp rod bolts how As can handle all kinds of punishment. I love these little engines more each day.
