Consider that the A12/A14 fan works as well as any electrical fan - and better than some thermo fans.

A12/A14/A15 uses the same fans.

Spal brand fans come highly recommended. Some have had success with Craig Davies fans.

For more information, see Electric Fan, particularly the Aftermarket section.

I used one of these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... ageName=ADME:L:OC:AU:3160 on my A15. It worked well enough to stop it overheating while I was tuning it in the shed over summer. If you're planning on doing a burnout comp in summer you may want to consider something else though. I use it with a 70 deg thermal switch on the bottom pipe so it only comes on when it needs to. These one's can sink enough current http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=ST3823

Hope that helps.

I've used a 12" davies craig fan and have a 90 deg thermo switch in the bottom hose, no problem in stop and go traffic keeps the engine cool but on the highway it just can't keep up

If you get one it MUST have a shroud and it must draw the air through the radiator not blow it.

Some can push, its just pulling with shroud is more efficient.

also fan shouldnt be needed on freeway over 60kmh. Airflow through rad should be more then enough to cool car down
is your core blocked?

Just go to the Wreckers and measure up and use any Factory Fan that fits as any Factory spec fan will be bulletproof because it is made to OE standards, Plenty, Well actually all late model cars run electric fans and that will be the best and cheapect way to go unless you really want a brand new one, factory ones are reliable and often have nice mounts as well.
