Ute refuses to start while engine is turning over, soon as key is released it fires..... Been trying to resolve it for a couple of weeks, with no success, please help....

Also losing charge on my battery, not sure why, just replaced the battery but had no effect, car is sluggish to turn over in the morning, every morning, last 4 mornings ive been able to start it once....

The installed Voltmeter reads at roughly 13 volts while driving, and drops to around 6-8 volts at idle followed by dimming headlights and dash lights, i have since dismantled the alternater to check brush's etc but there was still at least 1.5 to 2mm of wear left before the wear mark\line, i cleaned the whole brush assembly to make sure the brushs weren't sticking in there housings and reasemmbled, but the problem remains.........Im starting to think i might have a short somewhere but i dont know where to look............any help you could lend would be great, i love my ute, she looks nice, even runs nice but this wiring and charge problem is doing my head in :(

This is a wiring problem. Nothing to do with the alternator.
