Good Morning.

I have been using the information on this site to help me work on my car, and i would now like to start a build thread and get some specific help on some subjects.

The car's details : a14 ; one owner ( my father ) ; original paint

Recently acquired minilights - 13x7jj et-8 with accelera 165/55R13. The car has been lowered approx 30mm front and back, but I am now looking to get it as low to the ground as possible, while keeping usabilty as a daily driver. the ride height can be seen in the pictures.

My questions : does anybody have any advice and tips for shortening the struts.( car has newish monroe struts in with standard (very soft ) springs )

Will a leaf flip at the rear get me as low as re-tensioning the rear leafs to a flat position?

All done on a tight budget.

All your experience with doing such things will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Nice ute mate

Im running the same tyres as you , they fit pretty well!

As for the rear , flip the bottom leafs to the top and buy some 2.5 or 3 inch lowering blocks and itll sit nice and low

As for the front , never done stock struts but check the wiki itll have some info on what insert to use

When I did my stanza struts I did the following

Find inserts shorten than stock , with the same OD to fit into the strut
Cut perch off and grind welds off
Cut strut tube , if new inserts are 100mm shorter , cut strut tube at 150mm , then with the cut off piece , cut the top 50mm off as its got a thread in it to retain the insert
Sit threaded part of tube ontop off the strut tube , weld back onto tube and reinsert insert
Weld perch or coilover sleeves on and reassemble

I've tried rolling the fenders but its become clear that something much more is required. The back is fine, but for the front to go lower, the arch needs to get out of the way

Your going to need a combination of negative camber, pumped guards and possibly longer lower control arms for more neg camber for those front wheels to tuck under..... And then I still don't think they will

Can i make camber tops that are mounted higher up, and effectively get camber and lower the car without having to shorten struts ?

Also, would anyone know why both my indicators come on when I just put one on?
