The "Model Year" for automobiles is not the same as the Calendar Year (January through December). The Model Year usually starts in the fall of the previous calendar year.
To get ready for the start of the new model year, cars are manufactured ahead of time. Most cars start production in late spring or early summer to be ready for the fall introduction. And when a new model debuts, often the old production line is stopped and the new model starts even earlier. B110 sales started in January 1970.
