Update
For USA market, the rear number plate light changed in 1973 to meet higher government standards of illuminating the plate. Coupe license lamps already were bright enough, so only the sedan was updated.

Coupe
Two are used on each coupe, hidden under the bumper, one above each license plate bolt. You can see the holes in this photo:
Coupe lamps are not normally visible until turned on! Because they are up under the bumper.
Pickup
Datsun 1200 ute uses same license lamp as coupe:
Marked "SAE L 69", "IKI 6003" and "JAPAN" and "455"
Placement: Like the coupe they are hidden from normal view.
