Datsun 1200 came standard with #rubber mats covering the floor — and with carpet covering the transmission tunnel in the front seat area. Optional was full carpeting.

Full Carpeting
Full carpet was option but rare in USA (most only seen on some coupes).
It is a four-piece set:
1. Right Front Floor
2. Tunnel Carpet
3. Left Front floor
4. Rear floor
The rear piece stretches across the car and over the rear portion of the tunnel.

Each floor piece is secured by a hook in all corners. The tunnel piece is neither glued down nor hooked.

Tunnel Carpet
Except for Standard 1200s, all 1200s were fitted with a piece of carpet covering the tunnel forward of the front seats. Standards came with a #rubber mat covering the tunnel.

Upscale GL and GX models had a 'foot patch' on the tunnel carpet next to the clutch pedal. All USA cars were fitted with the GL-type tunnel carpet but in a unique blue color.

It is glued, it goes to the lip which aligns with the base of the tray. This helps reduce Roadnoise, as from factory would only cover floor.

Tunnel carpet is NLA (No Longer Available) from Nissan in the USA, Canada and Japan.
AUS: Knox carpetᴳ fits the automatic tunnel, is a bit large for the standard manual transmission tunnel and will gather about the gathers at the sides near the doors. Fitting an extra layer of insulation will help.

Insulation
From the factory, only the tunnel had insulation, a jute type. Additionally, there are some asbestos heat shields on the floor which also have some noise-dampening characteristics.

Fitting carpet insulation will significantly quiet the 1200 cabin — even under the factory rubber mats.
