Some manual transmissions were fitted with an electrical Neutral Switch to signal when the gearbox is not in gear. All Automatic Transmissions are fitted with a an Inhibitor Switch which also signals when the automatic is in Neutral.
Overview
Neutral Switch was used for:
* Throttle Opener (some years e.g. 1972 1200 USA) * EGR (some years e.g. 1990 1200) * Fuel Shut-Off System on B310 * Starter interlock on automatic cars
Neutral Switch is near top of 4-speed 56-Series Transmission
Reverse Switch is on bottom
