5-speed C/R * 1st and 2nd are unchanged, so no new main gears * 3rd and 4th are changed, hence the new main gears pictured * Input shaft drive ratio is changed from 1.526 to 1.087 (close ratio) |

Same as the Datsun Competition C/R gear set, but with spur gears(straight-cut gears. Kit has a new COUNTER gearshaft, and matching INPUT shaft (with machined input gear) and matching 4th, 3rd and 2nd gears. This kit does not change 1st gear.
Spur gears: * Make a cool whiney noise * Stress the case less (no axial forces are generated) * Cannot transit as much power as helical gears, but the weakness in the 56A is the case strength

Shift hub for Reverse-1st shifts * REV gear is machined on one edge of the hub * Pull back on the hub to slide REV gear into mesh with the REV/IDLER gear * Push the hub forward to engage the syncrho into 1st gear (bottom large gear) * REV/IDLER shaft has idler gear (lower small gear) and rev gear (upper small gear) * NOT VISIBLE: 1st gear on countershaft, which meshes with both idler and with large 1st gear (the two lower gears visible in the photo are not touching each other) |

5-speed from first-year B310 Sunny
* 1st gear on the countershaft cannot be seen (it is behind the REV-IDLER gear) * D = direct (fourth), engaged by locking the input shaft to the output shaft * D (4th) and 5th are on the same shift hub * 3rd and 2nd are on one shift hub * REV and 1st are on one shift hub * REV-1 hub has the REV gear machined into on side. Push hub forward to engage the 1st gear synchro, pull back to slide REV gear to the REV IDLER gear |

From first-year B310 Sunny
* N = input to countershaft * 4th is Direct, 4th gear is built into the input shaft * 1ST is on the end of the countershaft (60A and 4-speed have REV here instead) * REVERSE gear seen is on a different shaft than the countershaft (reverse/idle shaft) |

5-speeds
* Biggest gear is the input gear * Followed by 3rd, 2nd, 1st * 4th is direct drive (no gear)
The splined end of the shaft is where another gear fits * 60A - 5TH gear * 60L - REV gear
