Re: V6 engine I want to ask if you could use the same downdraught webers on this engine than the ones used on the ford V6 engines?

Re: V6 engine Yes, you can use the the Weber 32/36 (Holley 5200/G180) carb on this engine. This carb is sometimes used on 4.2 liter jeep engines, so the size is appropriate. Btw, this is the same picture as # 382

Re: V6 engine NIce job. I suppose this is what the chickenhawk will receive too,as a transplant. One question. Can this engines work with carburators, ignition system ,with no computer? Why is a computer so mandatory? I have no experience with computerized cars. Jaime

Re: V6 engine Yes, the VG engines can be run with carburetion. However, you will need the carburetor version distributor. In the newest Nissan competition catalog they say that the Saudi Arabian Nissan Cedric came with a carbureted VG. They, Nissan Comp, sell it as well as the manifold to run a carb. Another option would be to use the Throttle body injection manifold from a V6 pickup but you will still need the distributor. Sorry, but the easiest way is to just go with the injection.

Re: V6 engine FWIW, the Chickenhawk is getting a VG33E from a 2001 Pathfinder. Same as above, only with more CC's (3.3L). And yes, EFI is probably the simplesy way. If you can find a V6 200SX in the JY, it'll have the best intake manifold, and the harness/ECU from an '84-87 300ZX (ECCS system) will be the easiest to hook up. It's not the greatest from a performance standpoint(the 88-90 are a shade better), but you are only talking about the difference between 180hp and 190hp..... in a 2000lb car.....

Re: V6 engine I don't know 100% which this engine is but I do know the car. It was orig fitted with a VG20 to get rego and then that was removed and fitted with a VG30. Its a beaut ute and goes great. Used to owned by one of my customers......we helped with the brakes on it. He recently sold it and went overseas.......damn shame...wish I knew it was for sale. I would have bought it myself.

Re: V6 engine With an easy 250 hp and 240 ft/b torque available from the VG30 that would make a very interesting weapon. Pity about the weight of the engine box combination though. I imagine it would have horrible understeer? Cheers Feral Errol

Re: V6 engine Erroll, I'll let you know after I get the VG-33 powered Chickenhawk II back on the road. Of course, it is at least third in line after a few other projects.

Re: V6 engine dimlight, you realize you are approaching the boundary of "why did he put such a big heavy engine in such a balanced, well handling car?" ... oops, you've crossed it. Seriously though it sounds like a grand project. isn't the VQ35 an all-aluminum 3.5 Nissan V6 ... hmmm ...

Re: V6 engine Yeah, yeah, I know, big heavy blah blah in a well balanced blah blah... Thing is, when you find a crash test car's engine, with SEVEN miles on the clock, for $100, you jump on the Mo-Fo! Hell, I'll put ballast in the car to get the front to rear weight balance back if I have to. Besides, I still have George (the turbo A-13 car) if I want to turn!
