Re: Carbon build up If thats an inlet valve [& i suspect it is] the carbon is likely to be from oil leaking past the valve guide.

Re: Carbon build up I'm going with the cam not being advanced enough causing exhaust gases getting pushed trough the inlet valve. Problem on pollution controlled engines.
