 Re: 180sx daily driver
I think its pretty good for a daily driver. Ive got a silvia that should be going on the road soon for the same purpose.
Its not a 1200, but so what! They are still fun to drive, and they go round corners real good... better than most 1200's would.
What more could you want for an every day hack? Its better than a lot of peoples 'good' car.

call the fire brigade, man burning himself

actually the idea behind chrome rims is not so much to look great stationary but to look awesome spinning, my brother wasnt much of a fan till he followed me home through the tunnel and saw them rolling, then he loved em

with the number of 180s around that are modified i dont think it's possible to get a unique bodykit, even the posted pic is a nice looking 180 but the bodykit is just as common as a veilside

when i bought it i thought i'd sell the wheels for something more circuit racer style, but i now like what i have

meh, personal choice

i get more intrest from people in the 180 than i ever do in any of my datsuns

^^^ by interest do u mean :, a heap of wankers trying to race u constantly in anything from their mums van to lancers/swifts bommodores?? or
is it the interest of all the police that are just as keen to see whats under ur shiny hood and bust u for a dead stock car..

the Datsun is a true sleeper with a ca18det or sr20det in it.. and stock will dust a 180sx with way more mods

 Re: 180sx daily driver
I can appreciate alot of different styles of car - I like old school japanese cars including datsuns, classic standard cars, rods, modern import cars and more.

I can appreciate the work and workmanship that goes into drag cars and alot of them look really tough too. Same goes for good drift cars. I even like modified 4WDs and bikes.

but i can't for the life of me understand why people like those ugly rims just because they're big and shiney. and i can't see the attraction of those Veilside style bodykits that look the same no matter what car they are 'designed' for either. its just rice by numbers - building a car that has the same bits as the other rice boys and can be applied to any car. it shows no taste, no sense of trying to enhance the style/shape of the car you started with or anything. You're right, I can't understand it.

I guess I'm a redneck.

ok heres the definitions.

strwaberry face is s15 front on 180 or silvia.

onevia is 180sx front on silvia

sil80 (only 400 were made in 1994, the rest are copires) is silvia front on 180sx

then there is s14.5 whish is s15 front on s14 200sx.

to be honest, i would rather drive totally stock ca auto than that. just my last comment. I actually dont care what you do with your car.(opinion, dont worry bout it)

this is where i barge right in and say all your knee-jerk anti-rice reactions are sh*t

never mind slagging off his car
all you people ever do on this site is lay into each others rides

the a15ett isnt running and the stocko corolla he borrowed was crapass

he's driving this car for a year thats all
and he's leaving it how it is
(YES YOU ARE, NO OPTIONS)
he's not spending on it
he's just gonna flog it off as soon as his projects are done

so who cares how rice it is?
i hated it whne i first saw it
and yknow what its a hell of a lot more comfortable than riding in a 1200 ute

it even has air con

so y'all can stick your nicely put "opinions"
jeez rallycar warned me u all mouthed off but i didnt realize u were this rude

have a good look at what you drive sometime, and what other people might think of it

buying a car that looks like that and leaving it stock is more of a crime than buying it in the first place!!!!

its like being hungry and going into hungry jacks with $5.00 and asking for a cheeseburger meal and when they offer you the upgrade for 55c you decline coz you want to run with an unmoddified meal, but you can afford it.

extra pleasure is only 55c away goddammit!!! and its not stock!!!!

Explain this then dattogal,

IF HE DIDN'T WANT ANYONE'S OPINION THEN WHY DID HE POST A PICTURE OF IT ON A CAR FORUM??????

I dont' care about anyone's opinion in this thread and I don't care about the car, but if you stick a picture of your car on a forum and say "my new ride" then people are naturally going to voice their opinion.

150kW 2ltr injected intercooled turbo DOHC
manual
5spd
RWD
LSD
4 wheel disc brakes
1150kg

of those who replied here negatively... who's got a car that has better specs than these???

I think the forum is geting nicky picky here. Who cares, if your happy with it and dirve it doesnt matter what people say. Im not a fan of it but as you said rallycar "your not getting rid of your datto's", which is the most important. Its just a car from A to B alot of people have worse everydayers!

I'd rather drive a beaten up datto than that, to be quite honest.

for whatever this is worth, I do! and my old 1200 wouldn't have been troubled by it either.

I wouldn't mind a 180SX in future. They're cheap, relatively light, rwd with good power potential and go-fast parts availability. And they can look very tough lowered with a nice set of wheels.

but I doubt its as light as 1150kg in the SR20DET version. more like low 1220-ish from what I hear. And that's before the bodykit and wheels...

So whos car are we slagging off next week???

By posting a this picture he may have been looking for feedback.....doesn't mean you should express it especially if its negative..

As for sleepers....Dattos aren't really sleepers any more....how many standard 1200 are on the road compared to modified dattos??? And a 1200 is as much cop bait as this thing...

And while were slaggin of daily drivers etc...how many people here drive their dattos daily?? if not...show us your crapolas so that we can have a go!!!

Personally...from behind the steering wheel I'm sure its a great car with all the modern comfort features...good fuel economy....handling etc

haha whats the point of only posting good feedback... I think it looks like ass but its still a sweet daily.

My daily is an '83 corona, bog stock with 300,000k's on the clock, tired 1.8L and 4speed, uses more petrol than my 120Y, and cant pull a single legger in the wet... slag away

That's not even Basmati or Jasmine or even Long Grain rice.. no sign of Saffron here...

It's just "generic brand" 3rd world country (should have been seized in customs) rice.

Best thing that can happen to that body kit is a slow speed parking incident that involves a high gutter... Although with that ride height, it might need to be a small brick fence or a tree stump.

I bet that mechanically and internally it's a nice car. But I just don't agree with thin, sagging, cheap fibreglass bodykits.

If by some unknown event I had been lured into the car to drive it... If I drove past a shop window and saw myself driving it, I'd have to jump out of the car and bash myself with the baseball bat that would stereotypically be stashed under the drivers seat.

Otherwise I think it's a good car.

This on the other hand....

Shiznitz, I thought you bought it like that

for the sake of appreciating it, your weekend car (datto) needs to be faster than your daily...

the datto may not be as comfortable, quiet, economic or any of the other 'really awesome' things this car might be..
but it has to haul arse!

now get to work on a datto...
and keep those wheels away from it

Hahahahaha! I thought that owning a 1200 meant appreciating why we don't need cars like that!

Seriously though i've thought about pissing off my cars and buying an import many a time. The SR S13 is about as good as they get in terms of all round performance except the GTR.

I know you are going to do something about those rims!

 Re: 180sx daily driver
it really is an awesome car, and has all the modern luxury, i love the look of it and am really happy, you'd be suprised most people like it in the flesh, even my brothers start to like it after 5mins or so and they are stuck in the old ways like you blokes

i will try the wheels on the datto one day but they are staying on this, most people buy a piece of crap corolla or whatever for their daily but i decided to go with something a little more exciting (i've had my dad's corolla as a daily for the last couple of years anyway)

i'm 100% wrapped, i was gonna buy a stock as a rock one but glad now i didn't

oh... and this is why i never asked you guys opinion (i got what i wanted not the popular choice), even with my 1200s i've always preferred a diffrent look/ motor to most of you guys

you're kidding aren't you? I can't think of a more cliche look! a Veilside type 'one-style-suits-all' bodykit, and chunky chrome rims that aren't chosen to suit the car, but for their bling value. Its the "rice by numbers" approach.

I think an 'intervention' is needed people!
