no power figures yet its getting tuned next wednesday. Yeah I got a pipe for the bov that works as part of the cooler piping. Much easier.

Hey Tyrie, looking good there. Good that there is another member running a gze, then I have someone to share experience with...

Anyway, will post up some pics. Mine ran a big-end bearing on number 3 just before we moved down to Cape Town. Took it apart, and had to grind the crank to 10 on mains and big-ends. Looks like some foreign matter got into the lube somehow, and chewed up all the journals. Also installed a restricter in the block to limit oil flow to the head somewhat, as they tend to fill up the covers with oil. I think this is what happened to mine, or gave it the final blow at least. The hole was 6mm, and we put a 3.5mm jet in there...

Put it back together, and it's running like clockwork again. Want to take it for a dyno this week, or early next week, depending on what turns up with job interviews... Made some cosmetic changes around the engine bay as well...

They seem to like doing the big ends. The turbo motor I bought had spun no.1 big end bearing.

Good to hear yours is on the road again

Chim chimney, chim chimney, chim chim cherooo....*hehehe*

Man it's good to turn that key the first time after one made some changes and it stands there purring like a kitten, albeit like one with a furrball stuck in it's throat. I was just as excited the first time I could start mine, I didn't hae much on there either, altough I did have a fanbelt on...

Let us know when you've taken it for the tune, would be interesting to see what you make. I don't know if you've given it some stick yet, but you should have felt already that it's a totally different car now...

EDIT: Ooo, I almost forgot, time to change that avatar now...

haha cheers man, I hate doing this sh*t myself, so often I find I dont have the skills or equipment to do stuff that needs doing.

But yeah the rear housing on the turbo keeps coming loose when it heats up which is a pain in the ass, but i'm too lazy to fix it.

It just made 146kw on 11-12psi, supercharger made 110kw on same boost, but had a HEAPS fatter curve.

I plan to get it engineered, then hopefully turbo conversion.

the extractors have really long pipes and the collecter is back under the car and hangs down really low, I squashed one of the pipes on a speedhump today

 Re: 4agze 120Y
theres actually heaps of room in the tunnel, although the box is the weakest link and a bigger box would probably fill it up. I cant see why it wouldnt fit in a 1000. Maybe clearance for the S/c would be an issue, depending how low you mount it??

 Re: 4agze 120Y
yep turbo would definately be the way to go, its heaps cluttered on the drivers side, and as you can see plenty of room for a nice highmount turbo
I could've bought a complete turbo kit for this for an extra $900 but I want to get it engineered first

i heard these motor produce good figures for there size they are only 1600cc and if you take off the supercharger and put a turbo on they make even better figures

edit: just found the figures they produce about 170hp or 127kw in standard form

 Re: 4agze 120Y
wow 127kw... I wish

its a tad over 100rwkw now I think, The only real way to get more is turbo, I cbf changing pulleys and ####.

my mate's got one in a sprinter with sc14 and custom plenum etc, not sure how much boost but I think he's after 140rwkw.

Once I turbo mine I'll expect at least 160kw.

 Re: 4agze 120Y
this is from wiki

4A-GZE
The 4A-GZE (produced in various forms from 1986 through 1995) was the supercharged version. Based on the same block and head, the 4A-GZE was equipped with a roots-type supercharger and therefore the compression ratio, valve timing and ports were modified. It was used in the North American supercharged Toyota MR2, rated at 145 hp (108 kW) and 140 ft

haha its so much easier to do the work when they're sitting right there and I have 2weeks break from uni

I really need to get it tuned and get a power reading, I'm #### at guessing. A 4agze sprinter I know made around 120rwkw on 12psi I'd be more than happy with that.

The bends in the 1st runner are to clear the cam angle sensor which isnt installed in the pic.

Yeah Lachie I brought back a turbo 4age with gearbox in my 120Y, resting my arm on the plenum all the way
