So all we need is:
- Expert casting skills
- Expert machining skills
- Expert engineering skills

If 25 of us commit to buying one, we could probably get a racing or aftermarker cylinder head company to make some up for the A-series. I reckon they'd be around $2000 USD each.

Its a miniscule fiat 850 engine to go into a 600 abarth replica. I havent seen a head with this kind of port angle except on tilted gerty halve v8 chev sprint engines and its a custom design for this engine for enthusiast of the fiat beesdick engine. Its a very sad time to understand there are less of us datto freaks combined as there are fiat 600 fans.
DD why do you think the japs havent experimented with an aftermarket head fot he A??? like for example the fuji speedway cherry hemi crossflow engine that is like the toyota celica 2t in design?
I wonder if we can get some sample of those fuji speedway heads to play with since they are already built??
Otherwise you DD would be in closer touch to the OHV 1600 R series fairlady crowd (3000 miles east to california??? ) they are a beautifully designed OHV with bore to stroke spacing that could accomodate 49mm inlet valves. There arent any pictures anywhere of it (and the u20 and G-series prince skyline OHV) that I could find on the net. These holy grail things could b our budget ticket to extra factory oomph.

Ps: anyone how do i put a picture inset??

Othewise, all we need is Stirling to make a crossflow hemi head to allow bigger valve configuration for the small bore of the A.

Use the "IMG" button to link to a picture so it appears in your reply. What you put in starts with "http" and ends with "jpg" or "gif", etc. In other words it needs to be a link directly to a picture. If you only have a link to a web page, use the "URL" button.

 Re: The ultimate small pushrod?
it would probably be easier to machine a crossflow head out of a billet block of aluminium.

something i have looked at a number of times, but then, it might just be cheaper to swap in an early mazda UC (1.4L) or D5 (1.5L import) 4pot.

I would LOVE to have a go at buiding a cross flow head for a A-series engine.
Challenging maching projects are of great interest to me.

yeah machining and engineering issues in general are of a big interest to me.

oh and DD, the best way is to click on the properties of the picture (right click, copy the URL link of the pic), and paste the link into the box that pops up after clicking the "IMG" button (in bewteen the URL and EMAIL buttons).

works for me every time

Lemonhead I reckon its time you rise to the challenge!!
Actually been speaking to a racer that builds the ohc a12 for speedway and mike has met him too. He can build an OHC a15 with hayabusa rods and custom pistons using the stock crank with smaller journals and knife edging, heat treatment and the rest.
It would make and interesting little sucker with 48 mm inlet valves.

It can be done.

The saying in the CNC industry goes "If it can be drawn it can be machined".

The major problem is getting someone to let use there 5 axis mill.

Anyone work for a car company or a racing team ?

there are places, but it's gonna cost some $$ the stock alone could be $500. ( maybe more ! )

but since it's NC - maybe try a tiny output first on cheaper stock.

I wouldnt think its the only one.

You can do "rapid prototyping" on a cnc mill just use really fast speed with wax.

"rapid prototyping" is a buzz word.

 Re: The ultimate small pushrod?
just looking at this head again and love the downward inlets
and the fact the pushrods only reduce the potential of the exhaust
side which is not an issue since exhaust needs to flow less.
I wonder today what it would cost to make something like this
for a handful of people.
I still love pushrods.
