A custom head for the infamous italian 600 engine that should be done to the A series.

What about Nissan's "AY" crossflow head for the A-type engine? I don't know if it's pushrod or OHC.

Here's a picture of it:

If I recall correctly, Stirlingmac has built a car using this head, something about them being left in New Zealand when the racing class rules outlawed them.

 Re: Crossflow pushrod beauty
Ah not quite..the engines left behind were the L series based LZs, the forerunner to the FJs. The head I have is a twin OHC crossflow 8 valve. Unfortunately it is soft and porous and I don't think I will ever be able to use it. If I wasn't so busy I would be making patterns and a core box and casting some new 16 valve heads for A series. When I was an apprentice I worked in a foundry and was trained in casting and pattern making and I've always wanted to make my own head.

 Re: Crossflow pushrod beauty
stirlingmac, thanks for the update and correction. Is the crossflow head you have like in the "mystery motor" picture, or is it an LZ head?

 Re: Crossflow pushrod beauty
The head I have is for an A series and it has a flat valve cover very similar to the LZ. I assumed wrongly that it was either a Datsun Competition part or an OS Giken item. I still have no idea who made it. I hope to one day get to the bottom of the mystery and talk to he people responsible for it, and how it ended up in NZ. I will post some photos once I know more about it.

You bastard of course youre killing me!!!
Can you get pics of this?
Or can he charge an entry fee to see it??

P.S. Got the a14 in the 1000 2 door and box from the other 4 door. Goes like a dream especially after I connected carb idle solenoid to the 12v supply from the coil (hope its not a 7v solenoid does anyone know?) but still want more oomph. Couldnt get the webers on the big port wtb gx manifold I need to modify the shaft spindles to get them closer together. So I should get more when theyre in and tuned for the a14 along with the extractors.
However Ill come and show you my 1000 when u have some free time cause Id love to see this crossflow thing too. Unless you just pulling my leg and its a ohv crossflow from a fiat 131 regatta.

The Fuel Cut/Anti-diesel valve is 12V, it usually connects to the ignition circuit.

Theyre a wedge or kidney design but I cant make up were the ports miss the mounting bolts for the rocker gear.
