How would someone in the USA (hydraulic clutch) install this? Or is a similar conversion available here?
Good question. No one has bothered to anser and I'm guessing the reason is that Datsun 5-speeds are fairly common here and less expensive than in Dellow country (Australia)
All LHD 1200 (Germany, Portugal, Canada, etc.) use a hydraulic clutch I believe so the question is big. With a standard Datsun transmission, LHD and RHD use the same gearbox except:
* The LH hole is cut out (all RHD gearbox have the casting outline for this)
* It uses a different release lever (release bearing is the same)
* A slave cylinder is bolted on
See tech article
Converting Cable Clutch to HydraulicSo probably the Dellow bell can be treated the same:
* Cut hole in appropriate location
* Drill & tap a boss for the slave cylinder. You could build up a boss with JB-Weld, the tap the threads into the case. I think this would be strong enough
* RHD & LHD release levers use the same ball stud inside the bellhousing so no worries there
