 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT UTE
the Homer would make a great tow vehicle for me as well. I have only seen 1 or 2 rough one down here in Tassie and both of them where loaded up with fire wood.

A 1500? Naw, it's a 1600. We never got J15 trucks here in USA. The outside looks pretty much the same as an Aussie Datsun 1500 except the mirror is on the "other" side. Looks like a 1973 (small bumpers).

 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT UTE
Dodgeman, I did notice that line on the door, it's just got me wondering now
Also none of the ones I have seen here have had a noticable red reflector/light at the bottom of the tray like that one. I will have to take a photo of the next one I see to compare them

EDIT saw your other pics Pete, it has US rego plates, so that could explain the different tray

Haha yeh at least it is a Datsun this time. A 1300 or whatever they were marketed as over here. J13 or some obscure pushrod engine. Not a bad looking ute, esp in well body... or even extra cab

 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT UTE
I see a few of these on the coast here.
Is that the original tray, because the ones that I have seen, the body line that goes across the top of the door, continues over onto the tray? Whereas this one doesn't seem to have that, and also the bottom of the tray isn't the same height.

 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT PICKUP
Note that the line through the lower part of the door does line up, & all of the Datsun Pickups that I have seen have the lower portion of the Pickup bed higher than the sills.
Did I say pickup? Oh yeah, that's because it's not a Ute, it really is a Pickup Truck, ... they're different.

I would love to have that parked in the shed. would make a great tow vehicle for the Cherry once I get it finished.

The ute might need a L20B put in it for the towing dutys though.

 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT UTE
In the states that would be a 620 pickup with a L series motor.

 Re: FOUND THIS NEAT UTE
It is a 620 -- mid-to-late 1970s. Looks like LHD, photo looks like america maybe somewhere in the southwest. It would be an L-series engine (L16 or L18?)

USA 620s didn't get a J15. They started with L16 from the beginning.

And it's not a real ute like a B120. Just an unsophisticated but reliable truck.

This is a cool looking 1500 ute. I think the black wheels really make this ute stand out.
