you can see how much was cut out of the rear quarters in this pic, it was a bit scary as it is a 2 door sedan and I don't think I'd be able to find replacements if we stuffed it up

That looks like you started with a very tidy car. Thats a bit rough to butcher (albeit very nicely) such a tidy and uncommon car.
Shame on you .......tut...tut...tut (shaking head)

Re: another angle of the front flare being made
I've had this 2 door for 4 years now, just in storage. Mostly because I've had other projects on the go but also because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. At one stage I had collected enough parts to do a complete tidy up with a hotted up A15, 5 speed, repaint in white (still got the paint) and reco the interior and just cruise in it, but I kept changing my mind. I always wanted to do what I'm doing now but just didn't have the currage to chop up a tidy (only found two small spots of rust in the floor, even after the baremetal respray) 2 door sedan. But its my car and if I don't do it some one else will, or it could get written off so I might as well enjoy it.
Even though I've gone for a race car setup with the cage and 4link etc I've made sure it will still be very driveable, the turbo isn't to extreme and neither are the cams and I'll be running power assisted brakes and a few other things to keep it easy and fun so I can take it out in the weekends and not have to fight with the car all the time. I'm really excited about it, its been a long time and now its finally coming together.

Thanks! It took me a while to decide on the colour, I'm pretty sure the flares and front lip are going to be black. And at this stage I'm thinking of using stainless rivets and leaving them exposed so it looks like a tough little racer rather than try to smooth and mold the glass flares into the panels.

Looks schmick as Quinn - glad to see you have stuck with this. Has it really been 4 years?!

I bet you found the pics from the Portugese 1200 race series inspirational.

Do you know where the LHD white 2 door that was on TradeMe a year or so ago ended up?

yea I actually tracked down one of the guys from the Portugese race series and brought the flares off him and modified them. I was talking to a guy about two days ago who said his mates son just brought a LHD 2 door sedan off trademe. So I could probably find it if I had to. Not sure what his plans with it are.
