Nice motor, I dream of having that twin DCOE set up.BTW, any real advantages, noticeable benefits in using an electric fan as in this Dato and riddin' the car of the stock fan?
Now that I am at my engine, might do that. I am getting rid of extra weight too, the air conditioning bracket, I got rid of the air conditioning compressor and radiator long time ago, and just saw the heavy compressor bracket still holding on. Also, I am canceling the car heater, here in California I do not need heaters,as well as air conditioners, it gets cold sometimes, but nothing a good jacket can not take care off. I will close the head port for the water to heater hose and also use a rubber cap to seal off the other side pipe. I do not need dirty crap comming out of the heater into my new radiator/waterpump/flushed system.

All that smog keeps SoCal warm, right?
What if you just bypass the heater with a hose instead of blocking the passages? I would think that letting some water flow to the backside of the head would help keep temps even across the head.
I don't know. I just thought I'd throw that out.

Yep I agree, John Taylor says on racing A series, never to block the back water passage as it will cause a hot spot in the head and eventually crack it or blow the gasket.

 Re: Carbies
good thing i read this thread, got to go to my mates this arvo and unplug his we just blocked them off cos he didn't want his heater, so you say just run a hose around the back of the engine?

oh and jaime, the bonus of removing mechanical fan is a small HP gain and the fact you can set the thermo fan to come on at a certain temp and then it can keep running when the car is turned off until the tempo is to where it should be. and it looks wank

sorry but

how 80's is that rocker cover.

no offence to any 80's styling car buffs

Hi guys.
I read here that one should not block off the heater hose at the back of engine.
If you do block it of, is'nt it the same as you just closing the waterflow to the heater inside?
Or am I correct in thinking the flow still continues through like normal even when heater is closed but when opening the heater inside the water flows through a other pipe to the heater radiator.

 Re: Carbies
water will not flow if you turn the heat down inside the car. I leave mine open all the time, especially when it's hot out.
How backwards does that sound?

just stumbled across this in the photo section...

Is this true?? Like someone else said, isn't it just the same as having the heater turned off? Is that a bad thing?
