stock 1200 strut ang94541 2002/8/18 8:31 Tell a friend 6043 4 0.00 (0 votes)
this is how much needs to get cut off to use a KYB 361005 VW Jetta insert. about 4"/100mm. A threaded collar is added to the end. |

Re: stock 1200 strut because that's what popped out when I opened up a pair of used, modified struts that came with the purchase of 1200. I bought this used 1200 that came with a few buckets of parts, including a couple of pairs of struts. I didn't even notice they had been modified untill I tried to rebuild them several months later.
edit: I'm not sure about the valving. I'm sure you're right, but for street driven it's fine.

Re: stock 1200 strut To use the Jetta insert, couldn't you just put a spacer in the bottom of the strut tube?
Of course, if your goal is to lower the 1200 at the same time, then does cutting the tube down make it possible?

Re: stock 1200 strut Why a VW Jetta shock? surely being FWD and a different weight, it would be valved completely wrong for a 1200 (bump and rebound).
