here it goes A14 high modified :

4 x Mikuni from Yamaha 1200 with independant manifolds
Alfa 33 1.5 pointless electronic ignition
BMW alternator + electric fan
10.000 rpm - 109 hp ( must do 120 hp )
revs just like a  motorcycle

I had to move brake pump to the front of the engine ( no room for carbs )

This is a local engine that uses a Similar setup but has the carbs laid as a true sidedraught [horizontal mounting] The brace is to prevent carb movement on the rubber mounts & the air filter is a Mazda item with a couple of flat aluminium plates. There is no interference between the air filter & the suspension tower. Being a right drive car certainly is an advantage in this case.
It runs amazingly well & cost a lot less than Webbers.

This is another shot from a diferent angle The lack of ported vacuum for the distributor is still a problem that has yet to be solved.

About the ported vacuum for the dizzy... I have a similar setup on mine (you can check my alblum for pics) and I've removed one of the advance springs from the dizzy at it works great. I had some advance issues prior to that as no carbs of this type that I've seen yet have a ported vacuum source. This may help your advance issues too as mine were similar in nature to yours.

That master cylinder setup really is ingenius , "n Boer maak 'n plan".

The tidy up of the engine bay looks great too.

Looks very different and why the alfa dizzy? any avantages or ease of moddification?
Did you use a weber manifold and chopped it up?
I had quad mikunis too on a 1570+ cc engine and it revved like a bike with equal length custom extractors, angle shaved head with unknown high lift cam. Just be careful that you dont drill the jets too far and glaze the bores like in my first attempt

This looks like an engine 'Sidedraught' used to have, with 4x motor cycle carbs on it. I recall some major headaches trying to get that engine to run or idle, or something.

FAZPIOES, What type of radiator is that ?? it looks like a good size.

Sounds to me that it is not getting enough advance. Pull the dissy apart, where the weights are, there should be 2 slots. Elongate these slots, this will allow the weights to move further out, giving more advance.

There are other problems with this. If it is advancing too early, (pinging/knocking) at low revs, run heavier springs. The weights may also hit the dissy housing. These can be left to "self clearance", or you could move to a larger housing!

Make sure the alfa dissy is designed to turn the same way, otherwise it will be retarding as revs increase. . .

Yeah I did have the same set up on an A15, the power delivery was very smooth no farting and hesitating like you can get with the webbers when you put the pedal to the floor. The carbs couldnt make the airflow to get the top end ,(or so it seemed to me). There was another problem that I spent many hours on(James you were there as I recall )But I cant remember what it was exactly.Got rid of the donk before I ever fixed it.

Hello Cable_tie

Many thanks for your suggestion . Amount of advance in middle rpm is the single problem this engine has - ( but I have 2 good facts for a start ):

- Idle is perfect at 700 rpm
-Full power is perfect too

Hi nzdatman

Under air filter goes a metal pipe from brake pedal until brake master cylinder + - 60 cm long ( you may see it on the other engine photo between air filter box and car body - it

Alfa ignition is very easy to install and simple and has a very strong spark - engine starts without choke .
The manifold is aluminium hand made .
The inox tube ot top of manifold compensates air mixture inflow between carbs and make them more stable as jets open by vacuum from admission .
