Re: Tic Toc. KB10 clock This wonderfull clock was kindly provided to me by club member TnPshow in South Australia from his treasure chest of parts. [back shed] I want to say thank you very much Terry. Your kindness & generosity is very much appreciated.
These clocks were optional in the JDM KB10 Sunny Coupe, but were never offered in Australia, so finding this one was a very pleasant surprise indeed. While it is an electric clock, i believe that it actually uses a standard mechanical clock mechanism that is electricaly wound. This is how most pre-digital electric car clocks were, so it should no big a hassle to get it serviced & regulated before it takes pride of place on my dash. The soft tic-toc will be music to my ears.
Pod mounted clocks,...not for ordinary cars.

Re: Tic Toc. KB10 clock The Datsun 1000 coupe [the Aussie version of the KB10] came with a tach in the dash as standard, as did all the Aussie Datsun 1200 coupes. It's the clocks for these that are uncommon & they were mounted in the console.
Speaking of original 1200 clocks,.. does anyone have one that they want to part with?

Re: Tic Toc. KB10 clock If you look at a KB10 dash with the dash pad removed, you will find that the hole for the clock is already there. It's the same for all B10 models, the metal dash is pre-drilled.
Next, look under the dash mat. There is a hole in the padding that is covered by the skin of the pad itself. This hole conveniently lines up with the one in the metal dash. It seems to be only a matter of cutting through the skin to access the factory provided mounting point.
When i have the dash pad redone, i will get the hole opened up & have the skin folded over to line the hole. Unfortunately my dash pad has had a base for what i presume to have been some religous medalion glued to it. The glue has destroyed a two inch square patch of the skin on the pad material & ruined an otherwise blemish free dash pad.
Clever, & thoughtfull, little chaps those Datsun engineers. Just another reason why it's no ordinary car.
