This is Nissan 305 Light Blue Metallic, an original color for my '79.  This was really a test though I am goign to end up using this hood.  It's a little darker than I thought but I like it anyway.  I'm using acryllic enamel paint (single stage application).  I think I put it on too thick because I ended up with a pretty heavy orange peel finish.  But oh well, it's not too bad anyway and this is a daily driver :)  Tomorrow a pro painter is goign to come by and do the engine bay.  HOpefully it'll be a little more smooth.

Nice colour. I like it a lot. If you are concerned about the looks, then perhaps you can get some of that stickyback underhood insulation sheet like i used under my hood. It looks good, covers minor paint sins, & provides some measure of thermal & sound insulation.
Just a thought.

I got mine from Scotts Old Auto Rubber in Victoria.
Check their website for current pricing. It comes in a roll & if you cut it carefully, there might be enough of it to do two small cars.

My invoice says the part number is 607 005

Find your make & model from the list & scroll to the bottom of the list of rubber parts. One part No. fits all.

Thanks but I dont' think it's bad enough to hide. :) It looks a little better now that it's curing, but still pretty orange peely. I think it's pretty good for a first try. I've been doing a little reading so I think it's either the paint/reducer ratio or a pressure problem. I think I got the ratios pretty close so I'll try lower pressure next time.
