My coupe was done with lime & it was for paint removal only. This was done at moderately low pressure & resulted in NO damage to the thin, errr, I mean, 'lightweight' body panels.
Coarse abrasive blasting is often done at higher pressures with less than satisfactory results.

Re: Orange Rebuild I have heard lime when not completely removed from seams and sills etc causes corrosion.
Ceramic Bead blasting is by far the best method for auto panels. With Copper Slag blasting being the next best.
Ultimately a good blaster can blast sand on an auto panel ( always on an angle) and not damage the panel.
