Cant recommend any other engines but can recommend a car that raced in its class and beat it always with its 1ltr beating the mini coopers 1100 at bathurst every year. The 625kg datsun 1000 which was known to produce 130hp at 10,000 in full sprint tune. If youre gonna keep that thing the box will crap itself like any small pom box does and also you need 3 main bearing design to miss your intregal box internals. Then if you like front wheel drive and old. Try a rare 120a with an a15 or e15 swap but dont fancy your chances as I got my eye on the only one known in Australia from a 74 year old dude who loves it so much (he drives it 80-100 ks a day and hes retired!) he imported it from malta in the 1970s.

I thought the number 60 was from the thickness or diameter of the imput shaft but I was mis-informed or got confused. A thicker imput shaft like an axle could handle more torque with all else been equal.
To save on tooling and resourses Toyota used the same gearboxes with different bell housings for it T and W series box.
The 60 series L based 5 dogleg box I have has front housing inc. bell with the same casting patterns, shape or design with the oil drain and fill plugs mimmicking the 180b SSS dogleg. There must be some chum with this knowledge out there who is not on this site or uses the web.

From the people who help destroy the environment every day. The german company that sponsored the demise of pot or hemp in term allowing the environment destroying cotton industry to flourish thanks to the product they introduced in the 1930s = polyester and acrylic which they made sure had no competitor. This company brings you AMC a composite pushrod with unseen properties and bonuses.
Stronger than 4030 steel, dampening vibration and other cool crap check it out:

Now thats a hike and a halve. 500 - 600 us!.
Feral I heard of these types of pushrods that have been used in speedway successfully at high rpm in a series:

http://www.cranecams.com/motorcycle/tc88rods.htm

or something better than titanium and cheaper:

http://www.3m.com/market/industrial/m ... duct%20Bulletin%20430.pdf

good luck.

I reckon the 3m ones would rock and 3m have good return policies if any probs.

I know all we want to know is if we can just use the internals and hat off the 180bsss and just put in the front housing just to use the different casted bellhousing for the A but I personally dont have any experience here. All I can say is that the L and A 5 speed look the same in the castings and dont see why like toyota boxes they would make a totally diff box just for the A. Now if the 4 speed 60a A box is shorter I dont know that either. Does anyone know whether the length is the same for the cable 60a 4 and 5 speed???
Engine setback differences has ment many have such shortened the tailshaft to suit their conversion in many cases.
