can anyone shed any light on this?
I just grabbed an E15 dizzy out of the quokka today, and compared to the datsun dizzy, the pulsars drive shaft is about an inch longer. inside the dizzy there is also a trigger wheel with 4 teeth, that needs to be attached. the datsun shaft has a big ridge near the top of the shaft that would need to be milled down to attach the trigger wheel. maybe not as much of a bolt-in swap as people have said?

Strip the whole top assembly from each distributor and put the E15 bits into the Datto dizzy- it is VERY EASY!

I dont know if I have mentioned this before but has anyone used one of the Crane Ignition systems. Zoom magazine tested one on a 1200 ute running an A12 and from my vague memory it gave a 33% power increase!

I have priced both the XR700 (street use) and XR3000 (race unit) through my work (Super Cheap Auto) and both seem like a great investment. I was talking to the bloke I bought my rally car off and he said he had one of these systems in the car before I bought it and it saved him lots of headaches, so guess what?, Im gonna get one so I dont have to stuff with points. The kit comes with optical pick up, module, the lot basically, all you have to do is set it up.

nope, tried that. I pulled both of the dizzys apart today and had a bit of a ponder. the assembly out of the E15 dizzy goes into the A series one alright, but the cap doesnt even come close to fitting over the (much bigger) rotor button. added to that the E15 uses screws to hold the cap down , whereas the A15 uses the regular clip style. and there is nowhere to drill / tap holes anyway seeing its a wider cap. what I have sussed though, is that the E15 should fit quite easily. the only real things being drilling a new hole in the shaft for the A series drive gear pin, and allowing for the difference in positioning of adjustment plate. luckily the plate from the A series unbolts from the bottom so I should be able to attach it to the bottom of the new one. oh and the vac advance units nozzle on the E15 points the wrong way (down) but the A one fits straight on, with the exception of having to drill and tap a second hole.
