I think you mean speedometer as tachos only read in RPMs ... There are some talk about this, yes it has been done. You could also paste a facsimile onto the speedo like this:

Hello

I guess it should be possible without any troubles. Just put in one with kmh instead of mph.

ive also thought about this recently, would it be hard to retro fit one from a 120Y, apart from the square facia and housing?
Its kmh and would not look too out of place in a 1200. just the speedo unit guage, not the whole instrument panel.

Yeah, who were the people playing around with photoshop making stretched 1200's and stuff?
Surely they would be abel to tackle my feeble speedo attempt head on...

come on. Someone do it.

As for the 120Y thing. I think that it would be pretty involved. The speedo and the petrol/temperature/etc clusters are joined together behind the dash...
Dunno for sure though...

I've just done it! only mine is a 240K spedo(in kmh) and it's now in my 1600.It works a treat and wasn't to hard to do,You will need some 'Get in there' skills and a bit of determination though.

depends what year, on my 1974 120y each unit is seperate. i think its the b310s that came with all the gauges as one unit.
